Ultimaker have always been proud and passionate about being open source, sharing their ideas, philosophies and the blueprints for their 3D printers. This approach is inspiring innovation and we are seeing Ultimaker enthusiasts push the boundaries of what is possible with 3D printing.
Many innovations that led to the Ultimaker 2 family came from the 3D printing community, ensuring development comes not just from what Ultimaker wants, but also what our users want to see and use. Ultimaker users can not only shape their own personal workstations by modifying and improving their existing machines, but also influence the bigger picture by putting forward suggestions, guiding future direction and how to get there.
As part of their strong belief in open source, Ultimaker have a tradition that half a year after releasing a new printer, they release the blueprint for that machine too. That's why we've already released the files for the Ultimaker 2, Ultimaker Original, Ultimaker Original+ and the Heated Bed Upgrade add-on.
