Building on the Autodesk Factory Design Suite 2016 Feature Update Pack, the new Autodesk Factory Design Suite 2017 release has a focus on speed. It delivers faster asset publishing, quicker response times when placing assets, improved syncing between AutoCAD and Navisworks and Asset Management, improvements in the lighter assets, working with parameters, enhanced integration with Autodesk Vault, plus a range of additional functions and editing capabilities.

New Asset Management Features
Simplify assets by saving as mesh or shrinkwrap: When publishing assets, you now have the Shrinkwrap for assemblies and Save As mesh for parts options.
Include key parameter expressions in asset property definitions
You can now enter expressions in the Asset Property definition fields and they are searchable.
Copy & publish to Vault, Project Explorer in Vault and Move Assets to local or Vault folder
Assets in Vault appear in your Asset Browser
Track Assets in the Vault Project Explorer
In the AutoCAD or Inventor Asset browser, you can move Assets to a different local or Vault folder

Designate the layer in which text annotations appear in AutoCAD: New Text Layers settings on the AutoCAD Options Factory Annotations tab indicate the layer in which asset tags, descriptors, and other properties appear. You can select a different layer for each text category.
