Find solutions to common installation issues. These tips and tricks will help you troubleshoot and prevent issues when installing your Autodesk subscription.

Windows operating systems:
Autodesk suggest users turn off/pause any virus scanning, firewall type applications, during installation process for the best chance of a successful and hassle free installation (Don’t for get to turn these applications back on after completion). Generally you can do this via the dashboard/interface for the application depending on the product. Your IT personnel will be able to assist with this.
The best and most guaranteed method of success is to install using you Windows Administrator account. User accounts (even with “Admin access”) are generally set with limited rights and privileges to certain folders that Autodesk products write to during installation. If you do not have administrator access, you should set your Windows user account control setting to “never notify” as explained here…
Close any other applications as these may also interfere with the install process.

Mac operating Systems:
1. Download the installer for MAC. (dmg extension)
2. Double-click the dmg file
3. The program will extract and the installer will run
4. Select the install option and follow the prompts
5. Enter the serial and Product Key
6. Select the license type (network or standalone, dependent on the serial purchased)
7. click "continue" and follow the prompts to install
8. After installing AutoCAD please install all available Service Packs for your version of AutoCAD.
Wherever possible to use the browser download method as explained here:
(If you use the install now option you have the least options available if you run into issues down the line.) Once the files have been saved to your downloads folder the best option is to find the setup.exe file (you may need to extract the files first) right click it and select “Run as Administrator” this option gives the software better access to windows registry for a more complete install.
It’s also a good idea to keep a copy of the downloaded files in event of needing to do a re-install at a later date. If the installation does fail or throw an error, best to take a screen capture of the error message (or make a note) as this will help greatly in trying to resolve the issue.

The most common issue we see is related to Windows permissions, if you follow the process in the above video you will not have these type of problems.
