Redstack now supply the Olsson Ruby Nozzle for abrasive materials. The Olsson Ruby is a nozzle designed for the Olsson Block on the Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer range. This new nozzle is great for printing very abrasive materials like Carbon Fibre. The nozzle features a Ruby inset which is rated 9 on the MOHS scale of mineral hardness, the industry standard for measuring hardness of materials, putting it just one step below Diamond. The technology is similar to waterjet nozzles, allowing you to print more abrasive, durable and functional materials.

One nozzle for many materials
The Olsson Ruby will work with a broad range of materials, including PLA, ABS, CPE/PET, Nylon, and composites with abrasive additives such as Carbon fibre, Steel, Wood, Boron Carbide, Tungsten and Phosphorescent pigment, are some of the materials successfully tested so far.
Tough and highly wear resistant
The ruby mounted at the tip assures that even the toughest materials will be printable. It was originally designed for printing with a composite of Boron Carbide (B4C), the third hardest known material in the world. The images below show the wear caused by printing with carbon filled filament on various types of nozzles in comparison to the Ruby nozzle.
Outstanding Heat Conductivity
The majority of the Olsson Ruby Nozzle is made from brass, creating excellent heat conductivity, performance and throughput.
