The Inventor you've been waiting for is coming soon - Available April 18
The latest version of Autodesk Inventor delivers on what users have been asking for. Users just like you voted more than 20,000 times on Idea Station for improvements in Autodesk Inventor 2017 — and now those enhancements are here, along with lots of additional features you will love. From core modeling enhancements to amazing new capabilities, these improvements help create higher-performing designs, coordinate development across team members and get your job done faster. As always, these enhancements are available to subscribers before anyone else.
Now function can generate form
Last year, Autodesk introduced a whole new way to design efficient, lightweight parts generated from the basic constraints specified by the user. This was called Shape Generator, and this year it’s better than ever, with more control over how the model is created — including mass targets, minimum thickness, and symmetry features. In addition, Autodesk are adding more interactive controls to size and position regions preserved from the optimisation.
No more translation nightmares
Autodesk have also added Reference Model support for a broad range of file types, including the neutral, industry standard STEP format. There are significant improvements to the Reference Model update behavior for CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, NX, and Pro-E/Creo files. Autodesk have even added support for importing mesh data so you can treat it just like any other 3D CAD data.
Professional design tools for professionals like you
There is a new tool to help you better understand the relationships between all the features in your design, delivering convenient access to cross-part references, sketch-driven patterning to help you quickly create uniquely repeated geometry. 3D sketch commands are now faster and easier to use, giving you a greater level of control. Additional enhancements to tube and pipe features make it faster than ever to create flexible hose routes within your designs.
Communicating design intent has never been easier
Autodesk Inventor 2017 makes it easier than ever to share your designs with others, keep your entire team on the same page, and get their feedback. Creating technical documentation is much easier too, with an updated Presentation environment for creating animations, exploded views, and snapshots, with a brand-new, timeline-based story panel to manage it all. You can also export your models into a PDF with new 3D PDF support for anyone to view, anywhere, on any device.
Get ready for the future of making things
Autodesk Inventor 2017 now includes access to Autodesk Fusion 360 for Autodesk Product Design Suite subscribers, so you can explore the next generation of product design and manufacturing tools. Working with Fusion 360 will help you move beyond the traditional categories of CAD, CAM, Simulation, and Data Management to a single collaborative platform that does it all. Best of all, as a subscriber, you already have access to this powerful cloud based software.
Get the latest functionality before anyone else
